I Guess It Needs to be Said…

I’m not quick to outrage. I’m not even one to get all that upset over jokes and innuendos about my profession. I’ve accepted ignorant remarks and the occasional inappropriate inquiry for services that I don’t provide with a simple, “That’s not what I do,” and blocked further communication with the offending party.

But recently, I got pushed to the point of having to take action. For the first time in over 17 years, I had to have a conversation with the police. I had to give my time and energy over to the fact that someone just didn’t understand how inappropriate, unprofessional, disrespectful, and dangerous he was being. And I’m still not outraged, but I’m definitely angry about this. So let’s just be nice and clear:

Predatory behavior toward me or my business will not be tolerated. Inappropriate remarks are not cool. Joke voicemails are not cool. I am a professional holistic wellness practitioner, and anything less than professional conduct will get you blocked from contacting me.

Please, if you are out drinking with your buddies and you think it would be funny to google massage therapists and give them a call…don’t. You’re not funny. If you call a massage therapist thinking that if you ask just the right questions or suggest you have extra money to spend, we’ll suddenly turn into prostitutes, think again. You’re engaging in behavior that makes us concerned for our safety. No one wants to feel unsafe in their business. No one wants to have to delete predatory and insulting text messages and voicemails. And no one wants their time wasted by the likes of you.

In short, my business is a professional therapeutic wellness practice. If you are looking for services of a more elicit nature, you have come to the wrong place. Move along.
